Phenomenal Woman, inspired by the iconic Maya Angelou poem, is a creative collaboration between artist-educator Carol Bailey and Montclair native Thomasian Hyland. Carol, a painter, textile artist, and retired theater teacher, creates handmade jewelry and hand-painted apparel featured at NJPAC, Essence Magazine, and the Montclair Art Museum gift shop. Even Montclair’s Mayor has shown support by purchasing a custom kaftan hand-painted by Carol and designed by Thomasian.
